Minutes

Al Norton called the membership meeting to order at 7:10 p.m. following a potluck dinner.   Al McGlothlin led the membership in prayer.

Al Norton introduced our guest speaker, Jim Belles from NOAA.  He spoke about The National Weather Service which provides data for the public, government, etc.

Al Norton then began the meeting with the swearing in of an officer, Ruth Kopcial, who is our new treasurer for the year 2001.   Darilyn Ziegler Smail read the minutes from the January 30, 2001 Quarterly Meeting.  Al Norton moved to accept the minutes as read.  Motion passed.

Ruth Kopcial stated that she received the treasurers books as of December 31, 2000, we had a balance of $3509.87.  After writing checks with receipts, we now have a balance of $2530.84.

  OLD BUSINESS:

  Tom Jenkins, FunFest Chair moved to set the budget for the festival this year at about fifty thousand dollars, which is approximately the same as last year.  Motion passed.

  Margaret Brown, our 25 Year Anniversary Chair, reported that things are moving along, and mentioned they are doing a cookbook.  She stated that recipies should be sent to Stephanie Garner or Norma Martin.

Al Norton requested volunteers for the following position which are still open: Newsletter, Historian, and Garage Sale

NEW BUSINESS:

  Diane Eason reported on the newcomer packets and asked for help to deliver them.

  Al Norton spoke about the next General Meeting to be on Tuesday, July 24, 2001.  It will be at St. Paul Methodist Church, 6:30 p.m.  LLC will provide BBQ and slaw.  He asked that members bring homemade ice cream and/or cookies, etc.

Diane Eason requested volunteers on behalf of the Park Board to call city hall if you see any misuse or violations to any of our Lakeland Parks.

  Diane Eason also reported that the Park Board is holding their annual Fishing Rodeo on June 9, 2001.

Garrett Verschuur suggested that he and his wife would like to chair a Starwatching Event in a dark place one night or twice a year within the near future.  He mentioned having the resources to get big telescopes for us to use and the knowledge of the stars.

Board Meeting MINUTES

 

Al Norton called the board meeting to order at 6:40 p.m.
  Roll call showed the following

Margaret Brown passed out new postcards with corrected board members personal information.
 
Al Norton read an email from Diane Eason.
 
Secretaries Report:
The Secretaries Report was available but not read at this meeting.
 
Treasures Report:
The Treasures Report was not available.
 
Committee Reports:
 
Membership:  Margaret Brown stated that we currently have 40 paid households and Mary Lou Shannon will be at the Quarterly Membership Meeting to accept more.
 
Welcoming:  Diane Eason wrote via email that newcomer names have been received through January 2001.  A few, but not all packets have been delivered.  She suggests that at the upcoming membership meeting, we ask for volunteers to deliver packets to some areas of town.
 
FunFest:  No budget approval yet, but Tom Jenkins has asked for some money on a few things that have already been established when he dropped off a rough draft of information about the FunFest to Al Norton.  Two copies were passed around for all present to look at and changes were discussed. 
 
Old Business:
 
1.  Diane Eason wrote via email about the plaque for Pat and Pete Riley, which should be ready for pickup on Monday.  Although she was not sure that they would be at the next Quarterly Membership Meeting to receive it.
 
2.  Diane also wrote about Jim Belles with NOAA is scheduled to talk on "Severe Weather Safety".  She was not sure what time he will be there, but Al Norton stated that we will work him in as soon as he arrives.
 

New Business:
 
1.  Diane Eason wrote via email that she would like to set up everything with the League of Womans voters for moderating the Political Forum on September 11, 2001 at 7:00 p.m.  She will inquire about having the Forum recorded or televised this year.  She also asks that Barbara Ziegler to contact St. Paul Methodist Church about using this location again.  She assumed that we will use the same layout as in the 1999 election.  She also wrote that last election, we gave the League $100.00 after the forum. 
 
2.  Margaret Brown made a motion to give $100.00 donation to the League of Womans voters after the forum.  Motion passed.
 
3.  Diane Eason wrote via email a suggestion of when the phone committee makes their calls reminding people to come to the membership meeting, ask the members to invite their neighbors.  As we all agreed upon this, Margaret Brown stated that it was too late for the upcoming membership meeting, but will do this in the future.
 
4.  Diane Eason also wrote via email about the Parks Board seeking volunteers from each club organization to serve on "Friends of the Park".  She could let us know more in the future, but said that basically it is anyone who frequents a Lakeland Park or drives by, etc.  This person must be willing to call City Hall for the Sheriff's Department to report any misuse to violations.  Or perhaps, some will sign up to patrol the park on certain days.
 
5.  The Parks Board is also holding a fishing rodeo on June 9, 2001, and would like to ask the Civic Club to consider being a sponsor again.  Last year we provided three savings bonds for prizes and 100 participant cards with the Civic Club schedule on the back.

Board Meeting MINUTES

Al Norton called the board meeting to order at 6:40 p.m. Roll call showed the following Present:    Al Norton, Diane Eason, Margaret Brown, Ruth Kopical, darilyn ziegler smail, and special guest Garrett Verschuur representing COLA.

Garrett Verschuur stated that a letter and form about the new Tree Ordinance, which has been passed, was sent to Al Norton.  As reported on QNet, when the experts arrived, they attended a first meeting, rented a van and toured Lakeland.  Then the Rudolph Jones family held a forum at City Hall on February 1, 2001.  The cost of this was about $7000.00.  Garret Verschuur has requested a donation from the Lakeland Civic Club.  He also stated that other organizations have contributed $100.00.  The city will hire an arborist to oversee the tree preservation as required by the new Tree Ordinance.

Secretaries Report:

Al Norton moved to accept the January18, 2001 board meeting minutes as presented.  Motion passed.

Treasures Report:

The treasures report was not available but many questions were asked and answered by Ruth Kopcial.

Committee Reports:

2001 Golf: A tentative date is set for this year which is September 26, 2001.  The cost will be $24.00 and the Chamber of Commerce is to participate.

25 Year Anniversary:  Margaret Brown reported that they are getting things lined up and mentioned to send your recipes to Stephanie Garner.

Hospitality:  Darilyn Ziegler email reported that Barbara Ziegler has set up all of the General Membership Meetings for the remainder of the year 2001, with the tentative dates agreed upon by the board.  The meetings will be held at the St. Paul's Methodist Church, with the next one on Tuesday, March 27, 2001 at 6:30.  We will again have a potluck dinner.  She also stated Barbara was told by the church that at the last membership meeting, we had left the lights on and coffee was found on the floor near the front.

Welcoming:  Diane Eason reported that the City Hall is getting together a list of names and flyers for her.

Newsletter:  Position is still open but Darilyn Ziegler Email agreed to assist Margaret Brown with it.

Funfest:  A report was not available at this time although Al Norton stated that the budget should be presented in March of this year.  The floor was open for suggestions.

Old Business:

  1.  Al Norton spoke about what motions were passed at the last Quarterly Meeting.

  2.  Al  Norton also spoke about possibly filling the remaining vacant positions.

  3.  Margaret Brown spoke about combining The Lighting of the Greens and The Christmas Lighting Contest.  She also suggested that we participate in The Christmas Parade.  They are still working on a date for all of this, maybe November 17, 2001 or December 1, 2001.

  4.  Al Norton mentioned that the domain name for the internet web site was passed and renewed.  A question of the need for two names was brought before the board, with confusion about which internet web site had updates and which one did not.  It was decided to ask our internet webmaster Dale Jones to clarify and correct.

  5.  Al Norton also mentioned that the renew support for COLA was passed with the amount of $500.00.

  6.  A current copy of the By-Laws of The Lakeland Civic Club was passed out to everyone present.

  7.  A plaque was to be presented to Pete and Pat Riley at the January Quarterly Membership Meeting, but now will be done at the March Quarterly Membership Meeting.  It was discussed about what will be printed on the plaque.

  New Business:

  1.  Margaret Brown made post cards with the board members personal information printed on them.  She passed them out to all present and noted correct information.

  2.  Diane Eason moved to donate a check of $100.00 for the expenses occurred with the new Tree Ordinance, but Margaret Brown suggested and also made a motion to make the amount for $300.00.  We checked the By-Laws concerning this amount.  Motion was passed for the amount of $300.00 to be made out to Rudolph Jones.

  3.  Diane Eason spoke about ordering 1 year old trees in the hundreds for the upcoming parks or schools, etc.  The application is due in May if we were interested.  We agreed to talk to Dave Martin in order to get people from the prison to plant the trees.

  4.  Questions were raised about LLC funds and goals.  Margaret Brown and Al Norton talked about what we can contribute in the future for our local schools and parks.

  5.  Ruth Kopcial moved to designate ten thousand dollars in the future of the year 2001 for the Zadie E. Kuel Park  This motion will be presented to the general membership in March.

  6.  Diane Eason pointed out in the By-Laws about a 20th year celebration coming up in November and asked for any suggestions.

  7.  Al Norton spoke about some activities planned for the coming year such as a Redbirds game, a bus trip to Tunica.  Also family fun or a Mystery Dinner was suggested.

  8.  Al Norton stated that Connie Hess said that it was approved to keep the Helping Hands yearly donation of $300.00.

  9.  Margaret Brown suggested that we have a flatbed truck with decorations which are in storage as a float for the xmas parade.

  10.  It was also stated that The Fishing Rodeo is the weekend before Funfest this year.

  11.  There will be new signatures for the signing of checks to include the President, President Elect and Treasurer.

January 30, 2001

Quarterly Meeting  
St. Paul United Methodist Church

  Minutes

John Thompson called the membership meeting to order at 7:20 p.m. following a potluck dinner.

  Mark Hartz led the membership in prayer.

Tom Jenkins moved to approve a check written for $350.00 to Helping Hands.  Motion passed.

Pat Pope moved to allocate $350.00 to Helping Hands for the year 2001.  Motion passed.

The floor was turned over to Judge Joe McCarty.  Officers were sworn in.

The floor was then turned over to Al Norton, President.

  OLD BUSINESS:

  Pete Riley, Lighting of the Greens Chair, reported that it was a success.  Approximately 120 people attended with only about 10 to 12 from LLC.  He asks for any suggestions on changes.

  Margaret Brown, Christmas Lighting Contest Chair, reported on the winners and prizes from last year.

  Darilyn Ziegler, Secretary, read a thank you letter from the Mt. Pisgah Choir.

Margaret Brown, 25 Year Celebration Chair reported the tentative dates will be on June 28 to June 30, 2002.  She also spoke of The Lakeshore Ladies Club to publish a Lakeland cookbook for our city's 25th anniversary, asking us to submit a recipe.

  Tom Jenkins, Fun Fest Chair, reported the dates are June 14 to June 16, 2001.  He also mentioned that there will be about 60 teams this year, therefore in need of alot of volunteers.

  The following Committee Chair positions still remain open:  Newsletter, Historian, and Garage Sale.

  New maps of Lakeland were distributed.

  NEW BUSINESS:

  Al Norton reviewed a tentative schedule and goals for 2001.

  Al Norton moved to allocate $3000.00 ($500 per issue) for COLA.  A vote was taken and the motion passed.

  Diane Eason reported on the topic for the next Quarterly Membership Meeting. She stated that the speaker will be from NOAA Weather Radio, since someone from the American Heart Association was not available.

Gerrett Verschuur spoke of a COLA meeting to take place on Thursday, February 1, 2001, at 5:00.  The discussion will be about the tree ordinance in Lakeland.  He invited all of us to attend.

  Dale Jones moved to allocate $70.00 to renew the domain name of our website.  Motion passed.

Margaret Brown spoke about LLC being a part of the Christmas Parade this year.

  Al Norton moved to adjourn the membership meeting at 8:00 p.m.  Motion passed.

  MINUTES

  John Thompson called the board meeting to order at 6:50 p.m.   Gene Seay led the board in prayer.

  Roll call showed the following Present:

  John Thompson, Diane Eason, Gene Seay, Eddie Acor, Gaston Walker, Margaret Brown, Ruth Kopical, Allison Ely, Barbara Ziegler and darilyn ziegler smail.

  Secretaries Report:

Margaret Brown moved to accept the October 19, 2000 board meeting minutes as presented.  Motion passed.

  Treasures Report:

The treasures report was not available but mentioned by Gene Seay.

  Commitee Reports:

  Hospitality:  Margaret Brown reported that the next General Membership Meeting is set for Tuesday, January 30, 2001 at 6:30.  We will have a potluck dinner at St. Paul's Methodist Church.  We will have the swearing in of the officers for the new year.

  Welcoming:  Diane Eason reported that she picked up the packets with twenty-five folders.  We will need to purchase more and they will be passed out in a couple of weeks.

  25 Year Anniversary:  Margaret Brown reported that we have $918.90 in a checking account for seed money.

  Lighting of the Greens:  John Thompson reported this was a success.  About 120 people attended with ten percent being LCC members.  Actual cost was $211.01.  Suggestions for improvement were discussed.

  The following Committee Chairs positions remain open:  Newsletter, Historian, and Garage Sale.

  Old Business:

  1.  Diane Eason moved to allocate $100.00 for an insert with CityWatch in the Febuary isssue.

  2.  John Thompson reported that a check was sent to Helping Hands for $300.00.  Diane Eason moved to accept this.  Motion passed.

  3.  Ideas were suggested to give Helping Hands funding to recipients who actually live in the Lakeland area first. 

     Margaret Brown moved that Allison Ely approach Connie with Helping Hands about families within the local schools this year.

  4.  Diane Eason moved to allocate $100.00 to the Welcome Committee for more folders, labels, and names from the City Hall.

  New Business:

  1.  A tentative schedule for the Lakeland Civic Club 2001 was presented along with a copy of the Installation Ceremony-January 30, 2001.  Copies of both were passed out to all members present.

  Diane Eason moved to ajourn the board meeting at 8:08 p.m.   Motion passed.

  Minutes

  The meeting was called to order at 7:45 by John Thompson, following the potluck dinner.    

  John Thompson introduced our two guest speakers.  Dave Brown spoke on the Hot Summer we experienced and Larry Pittman,   from the Stockyard,  spoke on damage to trees and shrubs from the hot weather.

  Margaret Brown moved to file the July 25, 2000  minutes as read.  Motion passed.

  Dave Martin moved to file the treasurer report as read.   Motion passed.

*  Committee Reports –

            Margaret Brown reported for the Celebrate Lakeland 2000 Committee.  The celebration will be a 3 day event from June 28 - 30, 2002.  
*            Pat Riley reported on the garage sale.  Aprx. 170 homes participated.  The cost was aprox. $725.00.   
  Nancy Hartz moved to allocate $725.00 to the garage sale.  Motion passed
 Gaston Walker moved to amend the agenda to discuss the garage sale for 2001.
 Pete Riley suggested selling ad’s on the garage sale merchandise sheet to cut costs.              
Dave Brown moved to have the garage sale committee make budget recommendations for next years sale.  Motion passed. 

*            Diane Eason reported on the Golf Scramble.   66 golfers participated.  The Ladies Club provided volunteers for the event.  Total profit of $856.00 was split 50/50 with the Chamber of Commerce.  $225.00 of the Civic Club split went to the 25 year Celebration.

* Old Business
1.Margaret Brown reported on the Christmas Lighting Contest to be held in conjunction with Lighting of the Greens. This year judging will be for a large and small display categories.  Judging is scheduled for 12/13/2000.  One representative from each club will judge. 

2. Pete Riley reported on the Christmas Lighting of the Greens scheduled for Saturday,  December 16, 2000 at Peoples Bank.  They will make  kitchen and bathroom facilities available.    Hot chocolate and cookies  will be served.  Santa and Mrs. Clause will pass out candy to the children.  A local school glee club will be asked to perform.    
* New Business 
1. Dates were announced for the January quarterly meeting.  This will be a potluck dinner.  Location to be announced.
2. The nominating committee presented the 2001 Slate of Officers.

Alison Ely will consider Chairing the “Christmas Lighting Contest.  Mitchell Brown volunteered to Chair “Lighting of the Greens.” 
Barbara Ziegler volunteered to Chair “Hospitality”

4. Anyone interested in attending the Memphis Symphony “Pops” concert on 11/4/2000,  was asked to sign the sign up sheet.  

*            Announcements:    Bobbi Cornett announced the  Lions Club Christmas Party will be held on  December 9,  2000.  The Quotations will perform.  There will be a drawing for door prizes.  Ticket money needs to be turned in by December 2nd.

Gerrit Verschuur inquired about the Civic Club Cola representative.  Each group is asked to choose a representative.  It was suggested that the newsletter chair be the LCC representative for COLA. 

With no further business, Al Norton moved to adjourn at 8:22.

Committee Reports:

Golf Committee: Diane Eason reported on the Golf Scramble scheduled for Wednesday,  September 20, 2000 at 1:30 at Stonebridge G.C..  Brochures were mailed to Lakeland Residents.  Al Norton will make the awards presentation.   The Ladies Club is furnishing volunteers for various activities.  Plaques were ordered for awards.  50-60 golfers expected.  Currently have 10-12 sponsors.  Box lunch will be served to golfers and volunteers.  Board agreed to provide Fun-Fest T-shirts for prizes. 

  Garage Sale: Pat Riley reported on the  September 9, 2000  Garage Sale.   Over 170 homes participated.  Many coves signed up as a single home,  this number is probably closer to 200.   Vietnam Vets arrived early, but came back the next day.   The Garage Sale is getting more expensive due to the increased size of the City.  Participant list alone was over $400.00  plus advertising.  We may want to consider possible changes next year. Judy Payne will provide a complete critique at the October General Meeting.

  25 Yr. Anniversary:   Margaret Brown will report on the 25 year celebration after the Planning Committee meeting on September 23, 2000 - 9:00 a.m. at City Hall.  

Hospitality: Margaret Brown reported the next General Membership Meeting will be held at 6:30, October 24, 2000 at St. Pauls.  This will be a Pot luck dinner.  

  Old Business :

  1.            Speaker for Quarterly MeetingMargaret Brown reported there will be two speakers at the Quarterly Meeting.

            1)  Dave Brown will speak on “Is this the Hottest Summer  Ever?”

2)  Kim  or Larry ______? Will speak on “Stressed out vegetation after 2 summers of drought”

  2.       FunFest Report - (amount split) John Thompson reported that Richard Armour is working out the split between the various clubs who participated in Funfest.   Margaret Brown reported that  Pam Chapman,  Belz Mall would be willing to approach Ron Belz about use of  the mall for various 2002 activities and possibly FunFest.

  3.      Symphony   Diane Eason will e-mail all board members either the Memphis Symphony Schedule for the first two weeks in November or the e-mail address.  Don Bennett will be asked to make suggestions.  The board will decide on a date in order to have this included in City Watch.            

4.       Nominating Committee Meeting - There is a nominating committee (Margaret,  Pete,  Dale ,  John,  Al)  meeting scheduled for 8:30 a.m. Saturday,  September 16, 2000 at Waffle House.

  5.         Other -  no other old  business

  New Business:

  1.         Other -   The 2001 Board will have many new officers.  Margaret Brown suggested furnishing each Board member with a copy of the Lakeland Civic Club By-laws.  Margaret also suggested the Parliamentarian have a  copy of “Robert’s Rules of Order” at all  Lakeland Civic Club Board and General meeting.

  Garage Sale: Pat Riley reported on the Garage Sale scheduled for Saturday,  September 9, 2000 from 7:00 - 3:00.  Balloons and maps will be available the day before the event.   Vietnam Vets will pick up discards after 4:00.   

  25 Yr. Anniversary:   Margaret Brown reported on the 25 year celebration.  Letters will be sent to all Civic organization,  associations and churches asking for their participation.  They will be invited to a Planning Committee meeting at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday,  September 23, 2000 at City Hall.  The Steering Committee will meet in October.  All details should be in place by January 1, 2000.  Pete Riley is setting up a bank account. Al Norton moved to place $500.00 in the 25 yr. Celebration account.   This amount is in addition to the $182.00 that was spent for Letterhead.  Motion passed 11-0-0.

Hospitality:  Margaret Brown reported the next General Membership Meeting will be held at 6:30,  October 24, 2000 at St. Pauls.  This will be a Pot luck dinner.  

  Historian:   Dot Holmquist reported all historical documents are being kept up to date.   Tom Jenkins has pictures of Early Funfest’s.  Tom Jenkins will look into getting copies of the Winslow’s early year data and pictures.

Old Business :

1.       Speaker for Quarterly Meeting:

Dot Holmquest moved to have Margaret Brown  pursue a speaker for the October meeting.  Possibly someone on horticulture.  Motion passed 11-0-0

  2.         Other:   Pat Riley inquired about planning an outing to see the Memphis Symphony Orchestra perform.  Pat Riley inquired about the web site Dale Jones has been working on.  Web site is located at LakelandTN.com,  No update was available.  

  New Business:

  1.       Nominating Committee Meeting   John Thompson will organize a nominating committee meeting.

  2.         Other:  Miniature Funfest   Al Norton asked for suggestions on holding a  1-2 day miniature BBQ (back-yard funfest)  in the City of Lakeland with games,  entertainment,  rides, etc.  Possibly holding some of the 2002 festivities,  golf tournament around this same time.  Tom Jenkins suggested something along the lines of the Slug Burger Festival (grilled hamburgers/ corn) held in Cornith Mississippi.   This would be low maintenance.  An Octoberfest event was suggested with a Chili cookout.  This is along the same lines as events for the 25 year Celebration which we hope will become annual events.

Membership: Gayle Forsythe will e-mail all board members a copy of the latest membership list. Margaret Brown has volunteered to help with calling Membership.

25 Yr. Anniversary:   Pete reported Greg Kuehl is accumulating Historical information. 35-40 events were suggested,  many include using City Parks.   In the next 60 days,  letters should go out to area clubs, associations in order to pair events to the various groups.  City of Lakeland has agreed to appoint a representative to the committee.   

  Meetings are set for 6:30,  the third Thursday of each month.

  Old Business :

1.          FunFest

Tom Jenkins reported on activities for the 2000 FunFest.  Ms. Piggy and Hog Calling were canceled and replaced with Keg Toss and an Outhouse Race.  A Youth Hot dog decorating contest  was added.   Kids will cook and dress their Hot dogs.   Ladies Club will man the sales tent which includes water,  coolers,  neck wraps,  charcoal and T-shirts.  Lakeland Estates will man the hole-in-one contest and take care of the shootoff at Stonebridge, hole # 2 on Sunday.  Woodland Park will man the gate,  Lions Club will man the beer tent.  Fifty percent of the net total for these 4 areas will  be divided by 4 and presented to the clubs.  Admission on Thursday is free,  Friday and Saturday,  admission is $3.00,  children will be admitted free with a parent.  Saturday, 3:00,  Peoples Bank will sponsor a party,  free arm bands are available at the bank.  There will not be a auction this year.  We will raffle a “Big Green Smoker” donated by Ken Rash on Summer.   Cost -$1.00 per  guess or 3/$5/00.  Pete Riley will place Gumballs  in the grill,  (3) people will either add or remove gum from the grill and put the totals (added or removed) in a sealed envelope that will be opened and tallied at the Funfest Award ceremony.  A Funfest meeting is set for meeting Sunday, 6:30  at Pete Rileys.

            Funfest - flyer inserted in City Watch - cost $100.00

Dale Jones presented a briefing on the LakelandTN web page.

There was discussion on tying the LCC page to the LakelandTN page,  but not being a part of the actual page or its development.   

Pete Riley moved to consider the LakelandTN web page and take up at the August board meeting.   Vote 10-0-1 (Jenkins out of room)

  4.         Golf Scramble

Dave Martin designed the flyer and will e-mail a copy to members. Additional information unavailable.

  New Business:

1.            Participation in City of Lakeland Fishing Rodeo.

Pete Riley moved to purchase (2) $25.00 savings bonds at a cost of $37.50 to be donated for prizes in the City of Lakeland Fishing Rodeo and to print 100 copies of the Participation form with the  LCC Calendar of Events on the reverse.

Hospitality:  Margaret Brown reported the next LCC General membership meeting will be held Tuesday,  July 25, 2000,  6:30 p.m. at the I.H. Club.  LCC will furnish BBQ and the fixings,  members will be asked to bring Ice Cream. 

October membership meeting will be a potluck at St. Pauls. 

Old Business :

1.         25 year Celebration

Margaret Brown reported that the 25 year Anniversary Committee met on April 18,    (Committee notes attached)   Mrs. Brown asked to have  “25 year Anniversary account at Peoples Bank” placed on the next General membership agenda.   Signature card suggestions for the account:  Margaret Brown,  Mary Lou Shannon and John Thompson.

2.             FunFest

John Thompson reported for Pete Riley that volunteers are lined up.   Several events will be moved inside this year.  A Funfest meeting will be held toward the end of May.

  New Business:

1.         COLA - Al Norton appointed to represent LCC at COLA meetings if John Thompson is out of town. 

  2.          Signature  Cards - LCC bank accounts Margaret Brown moved to add President-elect to signature cards on LCC  bank accounts to authorize the President-elect to sign checks in the absence of the President. 

  Motion passed unanimously.  Vote 5-0-0

  3.            Beautification - Margaret Brown asked that LCC beautification continue mulching in the fall and spring.   Ms. Brown asked to have this item added to the June General membership meeting agenda.

John Thompson called the meeting to order at 7:30 following a pot BBQ dinner with all the fixings and homemade ice-cream.

Treasurer’s Report: 

Gene Seay reported  FunFest Receipts : $47,636;   Expenses: $32,125.98

FunFest showed a profit of      $15,510.00.  

Pete Riley moved to adopt the treasurer’s report.  Motion passed.

FunFest Report/ Budget Tom Jenkins reported on the FunFest.  58 teams participated. FunFest went smoothly despite the weather.  Tom thanked everyone for another successful event.

Old Business

1.   25 year Celebration Report - Margaret Brown reported on the 25 years Celebration.  Letterhead is being ordered. Planning Committee meeting is set for 9:00 a.m.,  Saturday,  September 23, 2000 at City Hall. 

  Richard Armour moved to provide $500.00 start up funds to the 2002 Celebration Committee.  Motion passed. 

2.  Garage Sale   Pat Riley reported on the garage sale.  Flyer going out in City Watch.  Civic Club will furnish balloons,  maps and participant list.  Vietnam Vets will pick up discards.  Contact Judy Payne or Pat Riley to participate.
